Paint Mines Interpretive Park Master Plan

El Paso County Parks and Community Services has begun developing a detailed Master Plan to effectively handle the growing number of visitors and protect the delicate rock formations at the Paint Mines Interpretive Park near Calhan. This planning process includes analyzing current information about Park visitation and the geological aspects, gathering new data, seeking public input, and consolidating everything into one cohesive long-term Master Plan for the Park. Informative guided hikes of the Paint Mines Interpretive Park will still be available throughout the summer.

Fox Run Nature Center

The vision for the Fox Run Nature Center in Fox Run Regional Park is built on many years of successful operation,
management, and community service at El Paso County’s Bear Creek and Fountain Creek Nature Centers.
The popularity and record of impact of these existing facilities illustrates the potential of the Fox Run Nature Center to educate and inspire a new generation of outdoor stewards in El Paso County. This location expands the ecosystem themes to include the ponderosa forest ecosystem of the Black Forest and the Palmer Divide.
